100th Day Fun and a TpT Sale!

We FINALLY made it to the 100th day of school today! We weren't sure if we were ever going to get there between all the snow and ice we have been having. It was a very full day packed with fun!

This year we had the children decorate white t-shirts at home with 100 objects on them. We were very excited to see what they came up with and we were very excited! Here is a peek at the awesomeness:

We created our Dotty Dude again this year. The children loved putting his 100 dots on him and little did they know they were counting, sorting, and getting lots of good fine motor practice at the same time!
You can grab our Dotty Dude pattern from our store for FREE here

Then we snacked to 100....yummy fun!

Did you know TeachersPayTeachers had a huge sale today? PLUS, they have extended the sale through tomorrow too! Our store is up to 28% off! Enjoy!

This is a great math lesson to help your children with addition using part/part/whole. This lesson includes exploration, modeling, student practice, and an assessment. Everything is done for you!

Exploration

We put children into groups of 2-3 children and hand out the exploration materials to them. We like for this part of the lesson to be driven by the children. They are to look at the cards and talk with each other to try to discover what we are learning about that day. We then allow groups time to share out their ideas. Here, they are given examples of part/part/whole mats with a number sentence to match each.

Modeling

We have included several examples for you to model how to complete the part/part/whole mats. Some have missing addends, some have missing sums. We like to use think alouds to show how to complete the mats and answer any questions the children might have.

Student Practice

This is the best part of the lesson! The children work in their cooperative groups to help each other fill in the part/part/whole mats. We give them dry erase markers for them to draw simple pictures. We encourage them to draw counters as it is easier and takes less time! We love seeing the children work together and help each other out when needed.

Assessment

We have also included an assessment with varying missing parts for you to check for student understanding.

We hope you like this math lesson and will check it out in our store! It is perfect in the next couple of weeks while many classrooms will be celebrating Read Across America in conjunction with Dr. Seuss' birthday!

Learn, Laugh, and Love is packed with many learning centers for your classroom. Each center is colorful, engaging, and fun! Not to mention the added bonus of learning! Ever since we have introduced these centers to our children, they have begged to do them everyday! Here is a look into the many literacy and math centers included in this pack:

Rhyming Raccoons
Little raccoon's valentine is being swept away by a balloon. He must act fast to find a word that rhymes with the picture in her balloon so he can pop the balloon out of the sky.
After children have matched all the rhyming words, they can draw a line to the correct rhyming pairs on the recording sheet.

Roll-a-Word
This is such a fun way for the children to practice their sight words. First, they roll a die or the heart cube we have included, then find a row on the game board that matches the number rolled. The child will then find a word in that row that they can read. If it is read correctly, they can cover the word with a counter. If they can not read it, they skip their turn and the next person is up. There are so many different ways to play this game, you can make up your own rules of play based on the skill of your children. We have included several different game boards with varying level of sight words.

Sweet Sentence Mix-Ups
Are you looking to challenge your high flyers? Here is a perfect way to do it! These sentence mix-ups are challenging, yet fun! The children use the picture to help construct a sentence from the words on the card. There is a recording sheet provided for them to write the sentences as they are putting them together. They have so much fun and feel so much success when they are able to read the sentences!

I-Spy
This center is so much fun! Children will use a magnifying glass to find thematic words in a Valentine-themed scene. When they find a word, they record it on the sheet provided.

Memory
This is your typical memory game with adorable animals that are ready for Valentine's day. Children will lay the cards face down and look for a match. They are matching a picture of an animal to the animal name.

Write the Room
Children enjoy walking around the classroom to find words that begin with the first letter of several thematic words. We have three versions included with the words: hugs & kisses, valentine, and chocolate.

Spinning Sums
The children will take turns spinning the spinner. When they land on a number, they need to pay attention to the color of the heart that is with it. They will then find an equation on their paper that has a sum of the number spun. They will color it the correct color. Players will take turns spinning and coloring the correct number sentences. We have included several spinners to add more difficulty to this center.

Skip Counting
Children can practice skip counting by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s in this fun and adorable center. The cupcakes look delicious enough to eat and include numbers 0 to 120.

Number Patterns
Children will look at the number patterns provided and fill in the missing numerals using a dry erase marker. These number patterns have a variety of number patterns for counting by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s.

Roll-a-Valentine
This is another classroom favorite! The children will roll two dice and add the dots together. They will then color the correct part of the picture that equals the sum of the two dice rolled. It is easy to differentiate this center by working with numeral dice instead of dotted dice or one numeral and one dotted to practice counting on to add. They love these thematic roll to add activities!

Comparing Sets
Children will place a set of objects in the middle square of the mat to practice comparing sets. They will add a set that is 1 less, 2 less, 1 more, and 2 more than the set in the middle to the mat.

Comparing Number Sentences
Children will place a numeral in the square at the top of the mat that will represent the sum of a number sentence. They will then sort equations based on whether they less, equal, or more than the sum.

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading all about our Valentine's Day centers. We hope you will visit our store and check them out to use this year or save for next year! This pack will be half off all week!
Happy Valentine's Day!

"Stinky Sweeties" is a Valentine's Day-themed literacy center that is a hit with our children! We're not sure if it's popular because they're stinky, or they're holding hands, or they're in "looooooovvvvveeee," or maybe the kids just love to spell words and match pictures. ;-) Children can use their auditory and visual skills to blend onsets and rimes to create a word that matches the correct picture. They'll be blending, reading, and identifying lots of words and pictures with this adorable literacy center!

Your children can select a heart with a picture on it, name the word, and then segment the beginning sound (onset) and the rest of the word (rime). They should then find the two skunks that match the onsets and rimes and create the word on the heart when blended together.

We have also included a recording sheet for students to write down their matches and practice reading and writing familiar words.

We hope your children enjoy these "stinky sweeties!"
